לפלא קצת שמאז נסעו מכאן לא הגיעו ממנו כל מכתבים, ולכן נעם לי בכפלים לקבל ידיעה אודותו בכלל וע"ד אשר הוו"ח אי"א נו"נ כו' מוה"ר... יש לו משרה בהעסק שלו, וכמבואר בכ"מ בדרז"ל אשר טוב האמיתי הוא טוב לשמים וטוב לבריות, ובפרט ע"פ דברי רבנו הזקן ופתגמו הידוע אשר "ואהבת לרעך כמוך הוא כלי לואהבת את ה' אלקיך" (וקצת ביאור בזה יש להבין ממה שכתוב בתניא פרק ל"ב), והשי"ת יצליחו בפרנסה גשמיית ובפרט בפרנסה רוחניית, ויוסיף בשתי העבודות הנ"ל בין אדם למקום ובין אדם לחבירו גם יחד.

Shalom u'Vrachah!
It is somewhat surprising that since you left here no letters have arrived from you; therefore it was doubly pleasing to receive news about you in general and regarding the fact that the vavac"h iy"a nu"n etc. Moreinu HaRav... has a position in his business. As explained in many places by our Sages of blessed memory, true good is good for Heaven and good for people—especially according to the words of our Rebbe, the Alter Rebbe, and his well-known saying that 'VeAhavta LeRei'acha Kamocha (You shall love your fellow as yourself) is a vessel for VeAhavta Es Hashem Elokecha (You shall love the L‑rd your G‑d)' (and some explanation of this can be found in Tanya chapter 32). May Hashem grant you success in material livelihood and especially in spiritual livelihood, and may you increase in both aforementioned forms of service—between man and G‑d and between man and his fellow—together.

Summary
The Rebbe teaches that true goodness combines serving Heaven and helping others. Loving one's fellow is not only a mitzvah but also a means to deepen one's love for G‑d. Material and spiritual success are intertwined through service to both G‑d and people.
