Shalom u'Vrachah!
Regarding what you wrote in your letter about what is stated in Likkutei Torah Shemini, discourse "Leviatan Zeh," that you wish to learn the simple meaning that shechitah (ritual slaughter) with a defective knife is invalid due to interruption, and therefore it is difficult because the invalidation of a defective knife is due to puncturing, as stated in Chullin 17b (also brought in Responsa tzt"z Yoreh Deah siman 16, Shaar HaMiluim siman 63; see there), here is the wording of Likkutei Torah: such shechitah is completely defective due to interruption, etc. In my opinion, this interpretation fits the plain meaning of the text: even though regarding the defect there are several distinctions as brought in the Gemara there—ogeret, mesuchsechet, rising and falling, etc.—therefore Likkutei Torah says that shechitah with its fins is completely defective due to interruption (because there are separations between parts of the fins), and it does not speak about the reason for invalidating a defect but rather about the quality of the defect.
A side note: from our Sages regarding making kenigia (a type of cut), it is also explained differently in Toras Chaim Parshas Toldos discourse "Vayiten Lecha." This is different from what is written in Likkutei Torah. This teaching—summarized—is also brought in Sefer Shnei HaMeoros page 10 (which states on its title page that it is from Admor HaEmtza'i—and so it was recorded by my father-in-law, the previous Rebbe, in Shalshelet HaChassidus printed at the beginning of Hayom Yom—but apparently from the style of these discourses—they are short discourses of Rabbeinu HaZaken recorded by Admor HaEmtza'i).
Summary
The Rebbe clarifies that Likkutei Torah discusses not why a defective knife invalidates shechitah but describes how such a defect constitutes an interruption. He encourages careful study of sources and awareness of nuanced differences between explanations.
