In response to your letter from Friday, Erev Shabbat Vaetchanan: I was glad to hear about the improvement in your wife's health. Certainly you are following the instructions of the expert doctors who examined her, and surely her condition will continue to improve. Please keep me informed with good news about this.
It is surprising that you do not mention anything regarding your fixed study sessions in the teachings of my revered father-in-law, the Rebbe hk"m, which I had previously encouraged you to establish in my earlier letter. This is the vessel that a chassid should choose for connecting with his Rebbe—my revered father-in-law, the Rebbe hk"m—as explained in Chassidus regarding the virtue of the limbs: they are not only vessels that receive but also vessels that draw down blessings for all needs in an open and revealed manner.
With blessings for success in your holy work, awaiting good news from you.
Menachem Schneerson (from a copy by the Secretariat).
Summary
The Rebbe encourages both practical action—following medical advice—and spiritual connection through regular study of Chassidus as a means to draw down blessings and strengthen one's bond with the Rebbe.
