בת"ח נתקבל מכתבה מיום ח"י כסלו עם הידיעות ע"ד יסוד בית רבקה והתקוה לפתיחת גן ילדים בקרוב.
ונהניתי ג"כ מה שסוף סוף שמה לבה להתחיל בנטירת כרם בית אבי ואם בזמן שבית המקדש ראשון קיים ובנ"י איש תחת גפנו ואיש תחת תאנתו כבר דאגו ע"ז ששמוני נוטרה את הכרמים ובמילא כרמי שלי לא נטרתי על אחת כמה וכמה בזמננו עתה שמבלבלים המוחות באופן היותר מבהיל ושמים חושך לאור וכו' שהטענה והדאגה כרמי שלי לא נטרתי גדלה ביותר ובפרט לאלו המסוגלים וגם עוסקים בנטירת כרמים.

With thanks, I received your letter from the 18th of Kislev with news about the founding of Beis Rivka and the hope that a kindergarten will open soon. I was also pleased that you have finally turned your attention to beginning to plant the vineyard of your father's and mother's house. In the time when the First Beis HaMikdash stood and Bnei Yisrael each sat under his vine and fig tree, there was already concern for this matter, as it says: 'Shamuni noterah et hakramim' (They made me keeper of the vineyards), and therefore 'karami sheli lo natarti' (my own vineyard I did not keep). How much more so in our times, when minds are confused in the most alarming way and darkness is set as light, etc., that the claim and worry 'karami sheli lo natarti' (my own vineyard I did not keep) grows even greater—especially for those who are capable and also engaged in planting vineyards.
