עס האט מיר געפרייט צו באקומען אייער בריוו פון ה' ניסן, אין וועלכן איר טיילט מיט וועגן געבורט פון אייער טאכטער ... תחי'. שיק איך אייך מיין אינערליכן וואונש, אז איר און אייער פרוי תחי' זאלט זי מגדל זיין לתורה ולחופה ולמעשים טובים צוזאמען מיט אלע אייערע אנדערע קינדער שיחיו.
אויך האט מיך געפרייט צו הערן, אז דער מצב הפרנסה איז בא אייך בעסער געווארן. איך האף, אז עס וועט אויך ווייטער גיין צו בעסערס און איר וועט קענען אנזאגן גוטע בשורות אין דעם.
וואס אנבאלאנגט אייער פראגע, וואס פארא מקצועות צו לערנען מיט די קינדער וועלכע ווענדן זיך צו אייך און בעטן לערנען מיט זיי? -
כאטש אפילו אין א באשטימטער מאס הענגט עס אפ פון טיפ קינדער, זייער עלטער און אפשטאמונג אין הויז, אבער אן אלגעמיינע אנווייזונג קען מען געבן, וואס זי שטימט אין אלע פעללע, נעמליך, אז אין דער איצטיקער צייט מוז די הויפטגעוויכט געלעגט ווערן אויף איינצופלאנצן אין אידישע קינדער ענינים פון יראת-שמים ווי אויך דעם געדאנק, אז יהדות מוז מען פראקטיצירן אין טאג-טעגליכן לעבן, און עס איז ניט גענוג בלויז צו לערנען וועגן דעם, אדער אפילו פארקטיצירן בלויז שבת און יום-טוב אין שול.
איסגייענדיק פון דעם שטאנדפונקט, דארף מען אויסניצן יעדע געלעגנהייט אז קינדער זאל קענען און וויסן ווי צו מאכן ברכות, היטן שבת, כשרות אאו"ו. אויב אפילו עס זיינען דא קינדער וואס אזא לערנען קען זיי אפשרעקן, דארף מען זיי דאס געבן ביסלעכווייז, און יעדנפאלס דארף דאס זיין די הויפט מטרה און ציל.
אזוי ווי דער טשעק איז ארויסגעשיקט און אנגעקומען אין די טעג פאר פסח, האב איך דאס איבערגעגעבן העלפט פארקן פאנד פון מעות-חטים און העלפט פאר אונזערע מוסדות חינוך פאר מיידלעך אין מאראקא אויפן נאמען פון כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע - אהלי יוסף יצחק ליובאוויטש, לזכות פון אייער ניי-געבארענער טאכטער תחי' לאורך ימים ושנים טובות.

I was pleased to receive your letter from the 5th of Nissan, in which you share about the birth of your daughter ... may she live. I send you my heartfelt wish that you and your wife may raise her to Torah, marriage, and good deeds together with all your other children, may they live.
I was also glad to hear that your financial situation has improved. I hope it will continue to get better and that you will be able to share good news about this.
Regarding your question about which subjects to teach the children who come to you and ask to learn: Although to some extent it depends on the type of child, their age, and family background at home, a general instruction can be given that applies in all cases—namely, that at this time the main emphasis must be on instilling in Jewish children matters of Yiras Shamayim (awe of Heaven), as well as the idea that Judaism must be practiced in daily life. It is not enough just to learn about it or even only to practice on Shabbos and Yom Tov in shul.
From this perspective, every opportunity should be used so that children can know how to make blessings, keep Shabbos, kashrus, etc. Even if there are children for whom such learning might frighten them, it should be given gradually; nevertheless, this must remain the main goal and purpose.
Since the check was sent out and arrived during the days before Pesach, I have allocated half for the Maos Chittim fund and half for our girls’ educational institutions in Morocco under the name of my father-in-law, the Rebbe zatzal—Oholei Yosef Yitzchak Lubavitch—as a merit for your newborn daughter for a long and good life.
Enclosed is a general letter for Pesach whose content is applicable throughout the year.
