במענה על מכתבו, בו כותב ע"ד שירותו בצבא ואשר עתה מנו אותו ועשוהו לקצין דתי על חטיבה שלמה הכוללת בתוכה כמה יחידות.
הנה בטח משתמש בכל תוקף השפעתו לשפר את מצב חיים הרוחניים בכל המקצועות, וכבר נתבאר פה בהתועדות בארוכה, אשר אם כ"א הי' צריך לפעול בכחות שלו, הרי אז יש לעשות חשבון מהכחות ובמילא מהתוקף שיש לו בזה, אבל בשעה שצריך הוא למלאות תפקיד הקשור בתורה ומצות, הרי אז פועל הוא בתור שלוחו של הקב"ה, ובמילא אינו הולך בתוקף שלו עצמו, כ"א בהתוקף של מי שאמר והי' העולם ומחדש בכל יום תמיד מעשה בראשית, ובמילא שתי מסקנות מזה: א) שיש לו די תוקף, והב) שסו"ס יפעול את הענין, כי מי יאמר לו מה תעשה והוא בא בשליחותו של מקום.
מסיים במכתבו שהציעו לו נכבדות וכבר התראה עם מרת ... תחי' כהן, וההצעה מצאה חן בעיניו והחליטו לסדר קשורי תנאים, הנה יהי רצון מהשי"ת שיהי' בשעה טובה ומוצלחת למזל טוב בגשמיות וברוחניות.
כיון שב"ג כהנת יוסיף שיעור בת"ת. ועד יום החתונה יקנה בקיאות במס' אחת ואם באפשרי גם בדינים הצריכים שבקצשו"ע.

נ"ב: ומה שכתוב במכתבו שכפי הנראה יקבעו זמן החתונה לאחר שנה, כיון שאז יוגמר זמן שירותו בצבא, וכן זמן לימוד ב"ג בבית יעקב, הנה לא נראה דיחוי זה בעיני, ואם אין מניעות מיוחדות כדאי הי' לחשוב ע"ד קביעות זמן החתונה בחדש כסלו הוא חדש הגאולה הבע"ל.

In response to your letter, in which you write about your service in the army and that you have now been appointed and made a religious officer over an entire brigade that includes several units. Certainly, you are using all the strength of your influence to improve the spiritual life in all areas. It has already been explained here at a farbrengen at length that if one had to act with only his own abilities, then one would have to calculate his strengths and therefore the force he has in this. But when one must fulfill a role connected with Torah and mitzvos, then he acts as an emissary of the Holy One Blessed be He, and therefore he does not go with his own strength but with the strength of He Who spoke and the world came into being and Who renews daily the act of creation. Therefore, two conclusions follow: (a) he has sufficient strength; (b) ultimately he will accomplish the matter, for who can tell him what to do when he comes as an emissary of the Omnipresent.
You conclude in your letter that you have been offered an honorable position and have already met with Mrs. ... Cohen; the proposal found favor in your eyes and it was decided to arrange an engagement. May it be G‑d's will that it should be at a good and successful time for mazal tov both materially and spiritually.
Since she is a daughter of a Kohen, let her increase her study in Torah. And until the day of the wedding let her acquire proficiency in one tractate, and if possible also in practical laws needed from Kitzur Shulchan Aruch.

P.S.: Regarding what you wrote in your letter that it seems they will set the wedding date for after a year since then your army service will end, as well as her studies at Beis Yaakov—this delay does not seem appropriate to me. If there are no particular obstacles, it would be worthwhile to consider setting the wedding date for Kislev, which is the month of redemption soon to come.
