With pleasure I received your letter and your correspondence from the day [...] Elul, and I have taken your blessing and will return a blessing to you: As we approach the new year coming upon us and all Israel for good and blessing, I hereby express my blessing to your honor and your family, may they live—a blessing for being inscribed and sealed for a good and sweet year both materially and spiritually together.

P.S.: Thank you very much for the books which, as per your letter, you sent to me. As per your request, I am sending to your honor in a separate package: Sefer HaTanya, Shulchan Aruch of our Rebbe the Alter Rebbe, and Sefer HaMaamarim Kayitz 5709 from my revered father-in-law the Rebbe zatzal. May Hashem continue to grant that you receive Sifrei Kodesh (holy books) and send Sifrei Kodesh—to increase Torah and glorify it. Enclosed is the kuntres for Chai Elul just past, as well as a copy of a letter relevant to it; surely it will interest you in the light within Torah—that is, the inner dimension of Torah printed in this kuntres.
Summary
The Rebbe encourages exchanging Sifrei Kodesh as a means to strengthen Torah study. He reciprocates blessings for the new year and highlights the importance of spreading both revealed and inner dimensions of Torah through sharing holy books.
