לקראת התחלת זמן הלימודים, הבא עלינו ועל כל ישראל לטובה ולברכה, ברכתי חמה ולבבית שלוחה לכם, אשר החונן לאדם חכמה בינה ודעת יאר פניו אליכם ותהי' ההתחלה וכל שנת הלימודים בהצלחה בכל הפרטים.
כל מעשה ומעשה של בני ובנות ישראל, צריך להיות בו כונה ותכלית רצוי'. גם ימי החופש שחלפו זה עתה יש להם כונה ותכלית, והן - להחליף כח ולהוסיף אומץ בכדי שתוכלו להמשיך - והמתחילים, להתחיל - לימוד התורה וחינוך הכשר ביראת שמים ביתר התמדה ויתר חיות.
הנני מקוה, ואני תפילה, כי תוציאו מן הכח אל הפועל את השקידה, ההתמדה והחיות הדרושים לקנין התורה, שהיא תורת חיים, מפי אלקים חיים, מורשה לעם ישראל שעליהם נאמר "ואתם הדבקים בה' אלקיכם חיים כלכם היום".
ובימי חודש אלול אלה בפרט, החודש שמרגלא בפומי' דכ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע לקראו בשם "חודש החשבון", חשבון השנה ההולכת וחולפת, וההחלטות טובות על להבא, הנה בטחוני חזק, כי תעשו חשבון צדק ממה שראוי לשנותו לטוב ולתקנו בעניני הנהגה וסדר בעבר, בכדי אשר מכאן ולהבא יהי' לימודכם והנהגתכם על הצד היותר טוב, לטוב לכם בגשמיות וברוחניות.

Shalom u'Vrachah!
As we approach the start of the study term, which is coming upon us and all of Israel for good and blessing, I send you my warm and heartfelt blessing: May He Who grants man wisdom, understanding, and knowledge shine His face upon you, and may the beginning and the entire school year be successful in every detail.
Every action of the sons and daughters of Israel must have a proper intention and desirable purpose. Even the recent vacation days had a purpose—to renew strength and add vigor so that you can continue—or for those starting out, begin—Torah study and proper education in fear of Heaven with greater diligence and vitality.
I hope, and I pray, that you will actualize the diligence, persistence, and vitality required to acquire Torah—which is a Torah of life, from the living G‑d, an inheritance for the people of Israel about whom it is said: "Ve'atem ha'dveikim ba'Hashem Elokeichem chayim kulchem hayom" (And you who cling to Hashem your G‑d are all alive today).
Especially in these days of the month of Elul—the month that my revered father-in-law, the Rebbe zatzal (may his merit protect us), would customarily call "the month of accounting," an accounting for the passing year and good resolutions for the future—I am confident that you will make an honest reckoning regarding what should be changed for good or corrected in conduct and order from the past. This way, from now on your learning and conduct will be on an even better level—for your benefit both materially and spiritually.
I conclude with a blessing for a good inscription and sealing for a good and sweet year to each one of you, to your parents, to your educators, and to your school administrators.
