במענה על מכתבו המודיע אשר נסתדר בתור נוסע מישיבות תומכי תמימים בערי צרפת ומשתכר די פרנסתו, ובההצעה שקיבל מאז מאירלאנד נעשה שינוי לגריעותא וכו' ושואל דעתי:
הנה לדעתי ימשיך בעבודתו בתומכי תמימים ויהי רצון שיצליח בזה, ומתאים להכוונה, וכמאמר כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר, לאחד הנוסעים למטרה כהנ"ל, שלא להסתפק במה שבמקומות בואו דורש ולוקח גשמיות, אלא לתת ולזרוע רוחניות,
וידוע מרז"ל אשר אף אלו שבצדק יכולים לאמר על עצמם אני ישנה בגלותא, הנה לבם ער, ובפרט אז מען וועקט זיי מיט א חסידישע ווארימקייט ובדברים היוצאים מן הלב.

In response to your letter informing me that you have settled as a traveling representative from the Tomchei Temimim yeshivos in the cities of France and are earning a sufficient livelihood, and regarding the proposal you received some time ago from Ireland which has since changed for the worse, etc., and you ask my opinion: In my opinion, you should continue your work with Tomchei Temimim and may it be G‑d's will that you succeed in this, as it fits the intended purpose. As my revered father-in-law, the Rebbe, said to one of the travelers for such a purpose—not to be satisfied with only requesting and taking material things in the places you visit, but rather to give and sow spirituality. It is known from our Sages that even those who can justifiably say about themselves 'Ani yeshena b'galuta' ("I am asleep in exile"), their heart is awake—especially when they are awakened with chassidic warmth and words that come from the heart.
