האזהרה שגם הוזהרנו מלהונות את הגר בדברים.
והוא אמרו יתעלה: "וגר לא תונה" (שמות כב, כ).
ולשון המכילתא: "וגר לא תונה" - בדברים. ונכפל הלאו ואמר: "לא תונו אתו" (ויקרא יט, לג).
וספרא: "שלא תאמר לו: אמש היית עובד עבודה זרה ועכשיו נכנסת תחת כנפי השכינה".
The 252nd Mitzvah
1. The prohibition by which we were also warned against wronging the convert with words.
2. This is His statement, exalted be He: "וגר לא תונה" ("You shall not wrong a convert," Shemos 22:20).
3. In the words of the Mechilta: "וגר לא תונה" - בדברים ("'You shall not wrong a convert'—with words"). And the prohibition is repeated: "לא תונו אתו" ("You shall not wrong him," Vayikra 19:33).
4. And the Sifra: "שלא תאמר לו: אמש היית עובד עבודה זרה ועכשיו נכנסת תחת כנפי השכינה" ("That you should not say to him, 'Yesterday you were an idol worshipper, and now you have come under the wings of the Shechinah'").
