Alef Cheshvan, Second Day of Rosh Chodesh

At Minchah — and likewise on Monday and Thursday of the coming week — the reading for Yisrael begins from the verse "Vayeira… el Avram"[1].

My father said to someone at yechidus: From the time the Holy One, blessed be He, said to our father Avraham, "Lech lecha mei'artzecha — Go from your land…"[2], and it is written, "And Avram journeyed, going on and journeying toward the south"[3], the secret of the birurim — the refinement of the sparks — began.

By the decree of Supernal Providence, a person travels on his journeys to the place where the sparks that must be refined through him are waiting for their redemption.

Tzaddikim, who are seers, see in which place their birurim are waiting for them, and they go there on their own. As for ordinary people, the Cause of all causes and the Reason of all reasons brings about various causes and reasons that bring them to the place where the avodah of birurim has been placed upon them.
