Moshe Lebenda is recognized in correspondence with the Lubavitcher Rebbe as a distinguished and G-d-fearing individual, a communal activist of many accomplishments, and a generous benefactor, particularly active within the Jewish community of Madrid.
The Lubavitcher Rebbe addressed Moshe Lebenda with great respect, acknowledging reports received from his personal representative, Rabbi Binyamin Gorodetsky, regarding Lebenda's significant contributions to Jewish communal life in Madrid. The Rebbe expressed particular pleasure at learning of Lebenda and his wife's dedication of a synagogue for the benefit of the local congregation, as well as their recent initiative to establish a kosher kitchen, for which they dedicated a suitable building in the city center.
The Rebbe emphasized the great merit and mitzvah of being among those who bring merit to the many, referencing the prayer Mi Shebeirach that praises those who dedicate synagogues and provide sustenance for guests. He invoked a blessing that the Holy One, blessed be He, should reward Lebenda and send him success in all his endeavors.
In his letter, the Rebbe encouraged Lebenda to continue and expand his communal efforts, stressing the importance of strengthening Torah and Judaism both among the local residents and the student youth. The Rebbe assured Lebenda that the Alm-ghty never remains indebted and would surely grant him abundant blessings, both materially and spiritually, in his communal and personal affairs.
