Shemtov, Baruch Tzvi

שמטוב - ברוך צבי

Rabbi Baruch Tzvi Shemtov — Chassid

This summary is drawn from the Rebbe's letters to him (the late 1940s); I did not find a published biography.

What the letters show

Fulfilling one's mission. The Rebbe taught that one's mission should be fulfilled with self-nullification, however it may seem outwardly (IK 467).

Spreading Torah materials. He encouraged thoughtful distribution of Torah materials and active involvement in communal work (IK 436), and spreading chassidic materials and news clippings to inspire action (IK 509).

Halachah and prayer. One letter explores intricate halachic questions that arise when traveling across time zones during Sefiras HaOmer (IK 494). At Rabbi Shemtov's request, the Rebbe prayed for individuals who were imprisoned (IK 272).
