בנועם קבלתי מכתבו מיום השני, למחרת ביקורו של אביו שי' כאן והשיחה שהיתה בינינו.
ונהניתי לקרוא במכתבו על דבר סדר לימודיו וכו'. ובטח לומד גם כן שיעור בקיצור שולחן ערוך, ששם מרוכזות ההלכות הצריכות בחיי היום-יום.

אחת המצוות העיקריות היא ואהבת לרעך כמוך
, בודאי משתדל להשפיע על חבריו, ובסביבתו בכלל, בנוגע ללימוד התורה בהתמדה ושקידה וקיום מצוותי' ביראת שמים. וההשפעה הכי פעילה הרי היא על ידי זה שנעשה דוגמא חי' לכל רואהו.

I pleasantly received your letter from Monday, the day after your father's visit here and our conversation. I enjoyed reading in your letter about your study schedule and so on. Surely you are also learning a lesson in Kitzur Shulchan Aruch, where the laws necessary for daily life are concentrated.
May it be G‑d's will that your learning follows the instruction of our Sages—study that leads to action and fulfillment of the mitzvos as required. Since one of the main mitzvos is "VeAhavta L'Reiacha Kamocha" (Love your fellow as yourself), you are surely striving to influence your friends and your environment in general regarding diligent Torah study and observance of mitzvos with awe of Heaven. The most effective influence is by becoming a living example for all who see you.
