On Making a Firm Decision About Marriage and Communicating It

ה'תשל"ב
The Rebbe advises that if one has truly decided the marriage proposal is suitable, he should have friends explain to the woman that his decision is firm and permanent, and also set a wedding date soon. If he cannot do this immediately, it shows his decision is not genuine.

If you have truly decided that the proposal is suitable, you should find friends who will explain to the woman in question that this time your decision is firm and permanent and will not change, and also propose a set date for the wedding in the near future. Then it can be said that she too will agree.

If you are not ready to do this immediately, it is a sign that your decision is not genuine, etc., so why confuse her?

I will mention the names at the Tziyun.

Summary

The Rebbe teaches that true commitment requires decisive action and clear communication. If one cannot act firmly, it indicates hesitation; clarity prevents unnecessary confusion for others.
