הנני בזה לאשר קבלת המכתב מי"א בטבת, בקשר לכנס רבני. ולפלא קצת שנשלח המכתב זמן כה קצר, לפי ערך, לפני מועד הכנס, וגם שאין בו כל פרטים ע"ד הקף הכנס ומי המוזמנים וכו'.
אבל כיון שלפי השמועה והידיעות – מוזמנים רבנים ממדינות שונות ומאירגונים שונים וכו',
הרי
ידועה התנגדות גדולי ישראל בדור שלפנינו לכנס רבנים מסוג זה, וידועים ומפורסמים גם הטעמים שלהם, אשר בדורנו זה לא רק בתקפם עומדים אלא אדרבא החששות הן גדולות יותר וקרובות לפועל יותר. ולכן דעתי, מיוסדה על דעתם ברורה ותקיפה של גדולי ישראל הנ"ל, אשר אין לעשות כנס זה כלל.
מובן גם כן אשר גם מה שיקראו לזה כנס חרום וכיו"ב, אין זה משנה כלום, כי העיקר הוא איך שזה יוצא לפועל, ובפרט שהזהירו גדולי ישראל הנ"ל שעל
החכמים
עיני העדה להביא בחשבון את העתיד לבוא לאחרי כנס כזה, הפנים חדשות שיהיו אז וכו'. וד"ל.
התקוה חזקה אשר יעמדו בפרץ ולא יבוא לפועל כנס רבנים האמור ויבשרו טוב.

I hereby acknowledge receipt of your letter from the first of Teves regarding the rabbinic conference. It is somewhat surprising that the letter was sent such a short time before the scheduled date of the conference and that it contains no details about the scope of the event or who is invited, etc.
However, since according to reports and information rabbis from various countries and organizations are being invited, it is well known that the great Torah leaders of the previous generation were opposed to this type of rabbinic conference. Their reasons are also well known and publicized; in our generation these concerns not only remain relevant but are even greater and more likely to materialize.
Therefore, my opinion—based on the clear and firm position of those Torah leaders—is that this conference should not be held at all. It is also understood that calling it an "emergency conference" or similar does not change anything; what matters is how it is actually carried out. Especially since those Torah leaders warned that the wise men—the eyes of the community—must consider what will follow such a conference: new faces who will then appear, etc., and so forth.
The strong hope is that you will stand firm and prevent this rabbinic conference from taking place, and may you bring good news.
