ואביע בזה תקותי ואיחולי לבבי שעליתו לאה"ק ת"ו תהי' גם עלי' בפעולותיו בענינים הצבוריים, זאת אומרת עלי' בכל התלוי בו להשפיע בסביבתו הקרובה וגם הרחוקה, – ואם תמצא לומר, אין ריחוק אמתי בין יהודי ליהודי שאי אפשר להתגבר עליו – עלי' בדרך העולה בית א-ל, חיים על פי תורתנו תורת חיים ומצותי'

Your letter was received with some delay, in which you wrote that in the coming weeks you will be finishing your service in New York and returning to Eretz HaKodesh. I hereby express my heartfelt hope and wish that your ascent to Eretz HaKodesh will also be an ascent in your public activities—that is, an elevation in everything dependent on you to influence your close and even distant surroundings. And if one might say there is no real distance between one Jew and another that cannot be overcome—an ascent on the path that leads to the House of G‑d, living according to our Torah of life and its mitzvos about which it is said 'and you shall live by them.'
