ששכר מצוה מצוה, זאת אומרת שאין מקום להבעת תודה לעושה מצוה שהרי אין זה בערך לפעולה עצמה שהיא תכלית השכר, בכל זה יש מקום להבעת קורת רוח ונחת רוח במדה גדולה להידיעה שמר ושדסקי מצא בכ' יד עזר ויד סמך בפעולתו הנעלית והחשובה, הראוי' וגם זקוקה לעידוד וסיוע ככל האפשר. ובודאי לדכותי' דמר אין צורך להאריך בדבר.

I received your letter and your wishes for the new year with special satisfaction—and even more importantly, your greetings from your assistance to the Avrech Mr. Michael sheyichyeh Shadsky regarding his activities on behalf of Jews and Judaism in his city, Rishon LeTzion.
Although our Sages of blessed memory said that the reward for a mitzvah is the mitzvah itself—meaning there is no place to express thanks to one who performs a mitzvah since it cannot compare to the act itself which is its own ultimate reward—nevertheless, there is room to express great satisfaction and pleasure upon knowing that Mr. Shadsky found a helping hand and support in his lofty and important work, which is worthy of and also needs encouragement and assistance as much as possible.
Certainly, given your merits, there is no need to elaborate further on this matter.
This is especially true as we are now in the days about which the prophet says: 'Dirshu Hashem b'himatzo kera'uhu b'hiyoto karov' (Seek G‑d when He may be found; call Him when He is near)—that is, during the Ten Days of Teshuvah.
May it be G‑d's will that in this new year you increase these aforementioned activities—including all your efforts for goodness and justice in general—with health, joy, and gladness of heart.
With honor and with blessings for a sealing and final sealing for a good and sweet year.
