במענה למכתבו בו שואל בנוגע לפסקי רבנו הזקן במקום שיש חילוק בין השו"ע שלו והסידור, כמאי עבדינן.
ידוע אשר הסידור הוא בתראי, ועבדינן כפסקי הסידור ויעוין בזה בספר שער הכולל אשר על הסידור (להרב לאוואט), וביותר ביאור ב"פסקי הסידור" להרב נאה, בו נאספו הפסקי דינים בהם יש חילוק בין השו"ע והסידור.
וכיון שהכל בהשגחה פרטית, עלי החובה והזכות לעוררו על ההכרח לקבוע עתים בלימוד פנימיות התורה שבדורנו נתגלתה בתורת החסידות, קביעות בכל יום ובהוספה ביום השבת אשר קדש הוא לה'.
בטח יודע משלשת השיעורים דחומש תהלים ותניא הידועים ועכ"פ ישמור עליהם מכאן ולהבא.

In response to your letter in which you ask regarding the rulings of our master the Alter Rebbe when there is a difference between his Shulchan Aruch and his Siddur—what should be done? It is known that the Siddur is later, and we follow the rulings of the Siddur. See also in the book Shaar HaKolel on the Siddur (by Rabbi Lavat), and even more explanation in "Piskei HaSiddur" by Rabbi Naeh, where he collected the halachic rulings in which there is a difference between the Shulchan Aruch and the Siddur.
And since everything is by Divine Providence, I have both an obligation and privilege to arouse you to the necessity of setting fixed times for studying the inner dimension of Torah which in our generation has been revealed in Toras HaChassidus—a fixed time every day, with an addition on Shabbos which is holy to Hashem. Surely you know about the three well-known daily study portions—Chumash, Tehillim, and Tanya—and at least you should keep them from now on.
