נתקבלו תוצאות הבחירות, והנני שולח לכ' איחולי הלבבים שיהי' בשטומו"צ, בהצלחה בכל הפרטים, בעניני הגשם והרוח גם יחד - ובפרט אשר גם גשמיות בני ישראל רוחניות היא -

נהוג בכגון זה לומר גם מזל-טוב, אף שלכאורה תוספת אחריות רבה בזה, וגם אחריויות חדשות. אבל מנהג ישראל תורה הוא, זאת אומרת שאמת הוא. ומובן, שהרי בודאי ובודאי שמלכתחילה ומקודם נותנים כל הכחות והאפשריות למלוי האחריות במילואה, ולא עוד אלא גם סיוע ועזר.
ויהי רצון שיהי' כל האמור מתוך בריאות הנכונה ובשמחה ובטוב לבב, עם כל הפירושים אשר בענין זה בתורת החסידות, מתחיל מאדמו"ר הבעש"ט ובביאור יותר ובחידוש יותר מאדמו"ר הזקן, שהשנה היא שנת המאה וחמשים להסתלקות-הילולא שלו.
בכבוד ובהוקרה ובברכה רבה בכל האמור, ולקראת חג השבועות הבע"ל - בנוסח הידוע של כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר - לקבלת התורה בשמחה ובפנימיות.

אף שהיפך מנהג ישראל הוא "ל"ספר" אחרי וע"ד אלה הנמצאים בעולם האמת, בכל זה מצאתי לחובתי שלא להעלים על מה שחשבתי כמה פעמים, בקשר למה שהולך ונשנה מנאומיו ודבוריו עוד לפני הבחירות - על דבר ההליכה בעקבותיו של פלוני (ילח"ט) - שתקותי, ויהי רצון שתקויים בפועל, שלא רק ינצל כל האפשריות שבתפקידיו החדשים שישנם גם עתה, אלא שעוד' יפתחם ויגדילם - בדרכי נועם אבל בתוקף הדרוש, שהרי בודאי תהיינה הפעולות ברוח ישראל סבא, מסורת אבותינו שקבלוה עליהם ועל זרעם במעמד הר סיני, ומה שהי' ואירע לקודמיו (ילח"ט) - לא יעשה רושם כלל וכלל - בסגנון חז"ל - רוצה ואינו יכול ויכול ואינו רוצה, כי אם ירצה וירצה, וכדלעיל במכתבי - תנתן היכולת.
יש מקום לומר שהכתוב בזה אינו מתאים עם הפרוטוכל, ולכן בא לאחרי החתימה, ואם יש מקום וצורך - הרי אתו הסליחה.

Shalom u'Vrachah!
The election results have been received, and I am sending you heartfelt wishes that everything should be in good and successful order in every detail—both materially and spiritually together—especially since even the material aspects of the Jewish people are spiritual. This follows my letter from earlier this week, which you surely received in due time.
It is customary in such cases to also say Mazal Tov, even though it would seem that this brings additional great responsibility as well as new responsibilities. But the custom of Israel is Torah—meaning it is true. And it is understood that certainly from the outset all the strengths and possibilities are given to fully fulfill this responsibility; moreover, assistance and help are also provided.
May it be G‑d's will that all of the above be with proper health and with joy and gladness of heart—with all the explanations on this matter in Chassidus, beginning from Admor HaBaal Shem Tov and elaborated further by Admor HaZaken (this year being the one hundred fiftieth anniversary of his passing).
With honor, esteem, and many blessings for all of the above—and in anticipation of the upcoming festival of Shavuot—in the well-known wording of my father-in-law the Rebbe: to receive the Torah with joy and inwardness.

Although it is contrary to Jewish custom to "speak" after or about those who are in the World of Truth (the afterlife), nevertheless I found it my duty not to conceal what I have thought many times regarding what has repeatedly occurred in his speeches and words even before the elections—about following in the footsteps of so-and-so (may he live long)—my hope is, and may it be fulfilled in practice, that not only will he utilize every possibility in his new roles which exist now as well, but he will further develop and expand them—in pleasant ways but with necessary firmness. Surely these actions will be carried out in the spirit of Yisrael Saba—the tradition our ancestors accepted upon themselves and their descendants at Mount Sinai—and what happened to his predecessors (may they live long) will not make any impression whatsoever—in the style of our Sages: "wants but cannot," or "can but does not want," but rather "he will want and want," and as above in my letter—the ability will be granted.
It may be said that what is written here does not fit protocol; therefore it comes after the signature. If there is room or need—please forgive me.
Summary
The Rebbe teaches that with new positions come both increased responsibility and Divine assistance. One should approach these duties with joy, health, inner strength, and a commitment to tradition—knowing that G‑d provides both capability and support for success.
