Shalom u'Vrachah!

... According to what is explained in this matter in Eizehu Mekoman, it is good that some amount should be paid for the burial expenses, etc., from her husband's estate, of blessed memory. Since this is symbolic, the exact amount is not so significant. For the remaining sum—she should speak with that relative who for now gave the money for the above—that he should give her an equivalent sum in exchange for her husband's possessions (the Sefer Torah and similar items), and afterward he will return these items to her as a gift. She will then repay him with this money for what he lent for the burial expenses, etc.

The point here is clear: the burial must be "in a field which was bought for full price," and not one bought by others. Since the relative merited this great mitzvah, arrangements should be made so that he also has merit in this matter—but in a way that does not affect the issue of "the field which was bought." This follows the arrangement mentioned above. However, it is necessary that her late husband's parents agree to all this.

It is understood that she can tell the relative—this is my suggestion.

We conclude with good wishes as we stand during Chanukah: May it be G‑d's will that from now on her portion and fortune will shine ever more brightly.

As you requested, this letter was sent without waiting for its turn.

With blessings for good news.

As explained: See Sefer Darkei Chesed section 17 paragraph 7. And other sources.
