Shalom u'Vrachah!
In response to your letter from the 27th of MarCheshvan, in which you ask about setting the wedding date for your son... shlita, and that in the meantime, unfortunately, the groom's mother passed away (may her soul be bound in life), and there is a thought that perhaps because of this the wedding should be postponed.
Certainly you know that it is a Jewish custom—based on Torah—that it is possible to advance a wedding date but not to postpone it*. Therefore, I do not agree with the aforementioned consideration, and you can set the wedding date in the month of Kislev, which is the month of miracles and redemption. However, in any case, do not postpone it beyond the time agreed upon by both parties.
May it be G‑d's will that the wedding take place at an auspicious and successful time and that a home be built among Israel—an everlasting edifice.
With honor and blessing for good news.
Summary
The Rebbe teaches that even after a close family loss, Jewish tradition encourages holding weddings at their scheduled time or even earlier—not delaying them. The month of Kislev is especially fitting for such joyous occasions.
