Shalom u'Vrachah!

I have just received your letter from the 27th of Tevet, and I was happy to read that the matter of the marriage of... is progressing.

I enjoyed what you wrote in your letter about the participation from Anash (our community), as it is known that when one performs a mitzvah, even one who causes that mitzvah to happen shares in it. Especially regarding matters of mashpia (giver) and mekabel (receiver)—both spiritually and materially—the receiver does more for the giver than the giver does for the receiver.

Surely you have also read in Sefer HaZikhronos from my father-in-law, the Rebbe, how young men became accustomed to give each other interest-free loans so that the giver would merit the mitzvah of gemach (charity loan), and the receiver would merit the mitzvah of repaying a debt. This is especially true regarding marriage, about which our Sages greatly extolled all its related details.

In this spirit, I will also allow myself to participate in the wedding expenses through the attached script...

With blessings of Mazal Tov.

Summary

The Rebbe teaches that both giving and receiving are elevated acts—especially in supporting weddings—where communal participation brings merit to all involved. Helping others fulfill mitzvahs strengthens spiritual bonds within the community.
