לאחרי הפסק נתקבל מכתבו מכ"ז מנ"א... נעם לי לקרות במכתבו אודות פעולות ככתבו בהמגמה של ופרצת, והרצאות על נושאי חב"ד, אבל התקוה חזקה שאין מסתפק כלל בהאמור, שהרי אין זה בערך לדרישת והכרח השעה, וכנראה במוחש על כל צעד ושעל איך שכו"כ מאחב"י רעבים וגם צמאים ונפשם בהם תתעטף, עד כדי כך שאין יודעים במה ירוו את צמאונם ולהשביע הרעבון שלהם, שזהו מדריגה ירודה עוד יותר ברעבון וצמאון, וק"ל. שמזה מובן שגם הכרח הפעולה בזה גדולה פי כמה, וביחד עם זה האחריות והזכות.
ובפרט שהימים ימי רחמים ורצון כימים הראשונים ימי חדש אלול, ואשר המלך - ממה"מ הקב"ה - נמצא בשדה ומקבל את כל אחד בספ"י (עיין לקו"ת פ' ראה ד"ה אני לדודי, לב, ב).

After a pause, your letter from the 27th of Menachem Av was received...
I was pleased to read in your letter about your activities as you wrote in the spirit of Ufaratzta (spreading outward), and lectures on Chabad topics. However, I strongly hope that you are not at all satisfied with what has been done so far, for this does not compare to what is demanded and necessary at this time. It is evident at every turn how many of our fellow Jews are hungry and thirsty and their souls are faint within them—to such an extent that they do not even know what will quench their thirst or satisfy their hunger. This is an even lower state of hunger and thirst, and this is clear. From this it is understood that the necessity for action in this area is many times greater—and along with it comes both responsibility and merit.
Especially now that these days are days of mercy and favor like the first days—the days of the month of Elul—when the King—the King of Kings, Hakadosh Baruch Hu—is in the field and receives everyone graciously (see Likkutei Torah Parshas Re'eh, "Ani L'Dodi", 32b).
With blessing for good news and to be inscribed for a good year.
