Shalom u'Vrachah!

In response to your letter from the 9th of Adar, in which you ask where to begin regarding internal conduct: In general, in such matters one should clarify his conversation and question before his mashpia in Chassidus, who will guide him. Overall, it should be engraved in your mind the contemplation written in Tanya at the beginning of chapter 41—how Hashem stands over him and examines his mind and heart, etc.—as well as what is explained in Kuntres HaAvodah about the necessity of internal and personal service. Most importantly: to keep the yeshivah schedule in both Nigleh (revealed Torah) and Chassidus, as well as prayer times; likewise regarding bodily health—for through this one becomes accustomed to order in daily life, making it much easier for one's service of Hashem also to be orderly. This is specifically what is demanded for internal Avodah.

Certainly you keep the three known daily study portions of Chumash, Tehillim, and Tanya. It is also proper that your tefillin should be checked if this has not been done within the past twelve months.

Blessings for a joyous Purim.

In the name of the Rebbe shlita.

Summary

The Rebbe teaches that internal spiritual growth begins with guidance from a mashpia, regular contemplation on G‑d’s presence as taught in Tanya, maintaining structured Torah study and prayer schedules, caring for health, and ensuring mitzvah observance like checking tefillin.
