Shalom u'Vrachah!
After the longest pause, your letter from the 4th of Teves was received, in which you write about matters of housing as well as your livelihood situation.
At an auspicious time, you will be mentioned at the holy resting place of my revered father-in-law, the Rebbe zatzukal lehe nbagam zya, according to the content of your letter. Likewise, those you wrote about will also be mentioned at the holy resting place.
It is understood and obvious that what you write at the end of your letter regarding spreading the wellsprings is not sufficient at all—not even in a manner that is not as it should be (which at least is close to what should be), but rather it is lacking. In contrast to the activities you write about, it is even more surprising since you already began this work and saw actual success. This means you have passed the initial stage, so there is no place for temptations from the other side saying this is not your matter or there is no demand for it—since you saw success. Apparently not only did you not increase but even decreased quite a bit.
It is clear that my intention is not to cause anyone pain—especially someone who, if he puts all his strength into it, can fully utilize his abilities for spreading Judaism in general and spreading the wellsprings in particular—since pain diminishes strength and energy. Rather, my intention is that from now on there should be a fundamental change in this matter. As explained in Iggeres HaTeshuvah chapter 29: he was accustomed to read one page etc.—meaning if previously he had both the obligation (and privilege) to teach a certain public class, now he has double the obligation as stated.
May it be G‑d's will that you share good news regarding all of this—true good: good for Heaven and good for people and good that produces fruit.
Summary
The Rebbe urges us not to rest on past achievements but to continually increase our efforts in spreading Chassidus and Judaism. Success should inspire us to double our commitment and utilize all our strengths for positive impact.
