לפלא שזה זמן רב שאין מהם כל ידיעות, ויהי רצון שיהי' זה סימן טוב, ומה טוב סימן מובהק, שאז יש לזה אחיזה בדאורייתא[1] שהכל בסדר ובשלום.
ועל של עתה באתי, שקרבה שנת השבע שנת השמיטה[2], ובודאי אחזו באמצעים מתאימים בהנוגע לעניני פרנסה של אלו, שעד עתה התעסקו בעבודת האדמה, ובפרט הספרדים והמרוקים, שעדיין אינם מבוססים כלל וכלל, ופשיטא שאין להם כמה סניפי פרנסה.
ונשלח המכתב מהיר דחוף בהתאם להכרח הדבר, ולכן גם הפרטיות בהכתיבה בזה לכאן תשובח.

It is surprising that for such a long time there has been no news from them, and may it be G‑d’s will that this is a good sign; and how much better a siman muvhak (a conclusive sign), for then it has a hold in Torah law[1] that all is in order and at peace.
And I come now to the matter at hand: the seventh year, the year of Shemitah, is approaching[2], and surely you have already taken appropriate steps regarding the livelihood of those who until now have worked in agriculture—especially among the Sephardim and Moroccans, who are still not at all established and certainly do not have multiple sources of income. This letter is being sent urgently due to the necessity of the matter; therefore, detailed communication about this to here will be appreciated.
