מאשר הנני קבלת מכתבו מיום א', בו כותב אודות מצב בריאות זוגתו תחי' והטפול הרפואי, ואחכה לבשו"ט מאתו, בטוב הנראה והנגלה הן בענינים הכללים והן בענינים הפרטים, ובבני ישראל בכלל ואנ"ש בפרט והתמימים ביחוד, הרי הא בהא תליא. שלכן פלא ופלא גדול - שאין מזכיר ע"ד הפצת היהדות ובפרט בהפצת המעינות (שיגיעו גם) חוצה, ובטח ימלא בהזדמנות הכי קרובה, וגם בזה תהיינה בשו"ט, טוב האמיתי טוב לשמים וטוב לבריות, וכדרשת רז"ל.
והרי מתקרבים אנו לחדש אלול הוא חדש הרחמים, בו כאו"א אומר בכל יום ה' אורי וישעי וגו', ויהי רצון שבעגלא דידן נזכה לקיום רמז כתוב זה, וכלשון הבחיי (הובא מכ"ק אדמו"ר הצ"צ בפירושו על התהלים שם) שעל הבטחה דבנין בית השלישי וחזרת השכינה, הוא שאמר דוד המלך ה' אורי וישעי.

Shalom u'Vrachah!
I acknowledge receipt of his letter from Sunday, in which he writes about the health of his wife, may she live, and the medical treatment, and I await good news from him, in visibly and openly good matters, both in general and in particular matters, and among the Jewish people as a whole and the Chabad brotherhood in particular, and especially the temimim, for one is dependent on the other. Therefore, it is truly astonishing and a great wonder that he does not mention anything about spreading Judaism, and especially about spreading the wellsprings (that they should also reach) outward, and surely he will fulfill this at the earliest opportunity, and in this too there will be good news, true good—good to Heaven and good to people, as our Sages expound.
We are now approaching the month of Elul, which is the month of mercy, during which everyone says each day 'Hashem Ori Veyishi' (Hashem is my light and my salvation), etc. May it be His will that speedily in our days we merit the fulfillment of this hinted verse. As Bachya writes (brought by our master, the Admor tzt"z in his commentary on Tehillim there), regarding the promise of the building of the Third Temple and the return of the Shechinah—that is what King David meant when he said 'Hashem Ori Veyishi.'
