והנה ראיתי בהאברכים דכאן ובכ"מ אשר כשמתחילים לדבר עמהם מענינים כהנ"ל, הרי זה מביא תומ"י לפזור הנפש ולפעמים הכי תכופות הרי זה ללא תועלת, כיון שנמשך כמה זמן עד שמוצאים הצעה מתאימה ויהי' הענין נוגע לפועל, ובהתאם לגילו הרך של בנו שי' הרי חשש הנ"ל הוא בתוקף עוד יותר, שלכן לדעתי לאחרי שלפי דעת כת"ר יבוא הזמן לחשוב ע"ד חתונה בפועל וכן תהי' הצעה בפועל, אזי יש להתבונן באם להציע לו תיכף.

I have observed among the Avrechim here and elsewhere that when one begins to speak with them about such matters as mentioned above, it immediately leads to distraction of mind, and very often it is of no benefit, since it takes quite some time until a suitable proposal is found and the matter becomes practically relevant. Given the young age of your son, this concern is even stronger. Therefore, in my opinion, after you feel the time has come to consider marriage in practice and there is an actual proposal, then it is appropriate to consider whether to suggest it to him right away.
Summary
The Rebbe teaches that discussions about marriage proposals with young Avrechim should be timed carefully—only when a real proposal is at hand—so as not to cause unnecessary distraction or anxiety.
