Shalom u'Vrachah!
After the longest pause, your letter from Erev Shabbat Shelach was received. As you requested, I will mention you at the holy resting place of my father-in-law, the Rebbe zatzal (may his merit protect us), regarding the matters you wrote about. May it be G‑d's will that you share good news in this regard.
Regarding what you wrote about the annual charity fund and your doubt about donating now in the middle of the year—your question is surprising. It seems you have not seen the talk concerning this charity where it is explained similarly to what is stated in Tractate Shekalim (beginning of chapter 2) about those who donated even for what was yet to be collected. Simply put, these charity matters are included from Rosh Hashanah even if they lack the merit of alacrity, as explained elsewhere and in Iggeret HaKodesh by our master the Alter Rebbe section 28.
As for your mention that you are trying to limit your eating time etc., it is certainly unnecessary to remind you of Rambam's words (Hilchot Deot beginning of chapter 4) that having a healthy and whole body is part of serving Hashem. This is also evident in practice: when one's health is not complete it disturbs proper involvement in Torah and mitzvot. This should be clear.
You surely know about the redemption festival of Yud-Beis and Yud-Gimmel Tammuz—the liberation of our Rebbe and leader of Israel—and have participated or will participate in gatherings connected with these auspicious days. Surely you also observe the practices established by the one who celebrated—my father-in-law, the Rebbe zatzal—by keeping up with the three daily study portions: Chumash, Tehillim, and Tanya.
Blessings for good news,
In the name of my master, our Rebbe shlita,
Secretary
Summary
The Rebbe teaches that charity donations are valid even mid-year and stresses that maintaining one's health is essential for serving Hashem properly. He encourages participation in chassidic gatherings and consistent study of Chumash, Tehillim, and Tanya each day.
