במענה למכתבו מכ"ט ניסן והקודמו, בו כותב מהשתדלות שלו בעלי' בעניני תורה ומצות וההתנגדות מעניני קליפת עמלק, ז.א. קרירות וספיקות, ושואל העצה לזה.
והרי מלתו אמורה בספרי חסידות בכלל בכמה מקומות והנקודה העיקרית בזה, לא לשום לב כלל לפיתויי היצר, וכשבא בתחבולה המביאה לקרירות להטיל ספק, שהרי העצה והמענה צריכה להיות, שאין לו זמן פנוי להתעסק בטענות ומענות, כיון שצריך הוא ללמוד, צריך לקיים מצוה פלונית להשפיע על חבריו וידידיו שגם הם יעשו את זה, והרי כל אחד מאתנו עבד הוא לאדון העולם, ואין העבד עומד ברשות עצמו לבזבז זמנו בדברו עם מי שהוא, כיון שהאדון העמיס עליו למלאות שליחות זו וזו.
ובכדי להגדיל הסייעתא דשמיא, הנה בכל יום חול קודם תפלת הבקר יפריש איזה פרוטות לצדקה ואחר התפלה בכל יום גם בש"ק ויום טוב, יאמר השיעור תהלים חדשי - כמו שנחלק התהלים לימי החדש, ולהשתדל בטובת הזולת ברוחניות ובגשמיות, והשי"ת יצליחו לבשר טוב בכל האמור.

In response to your letter from the 29th of Nissan and the previous one, in which you write about your efforts to ascend in matters of Torah and mitzvos and the opposition from matters of the klipas Amalek—that is, coldness and doubts—and you ask for advice regarding this. This matter is discussed in Chassidus in many places, and the main point is not to pay any attention at all to the enticements of the yetzer (evil inclination). When it comes with a scheme that brings coldness or casts doubt, the advice and answer must be that you do not have spare time to deal with its claims or arguments because you need to learn Torah or fulfill a particular mitzvah or influence your friends so they will also do so. Each of us is a servant to the Master of the world, and a servant does not have authority over himself to waste his time talking with anyone since his Master has tasked him with fulfilling this or that mission.
And in order to increase Divine assistance: every weekday before morning prayers, set aside some coins for charity; after prayers each day—including Shabbos and Yom Tov—recite the daily portion of Tehillim as it is divided for the days of the month; strive to benefit others both spiritually and materially. May Hashem grant you success to share good news in all these matters.
