This morning I received your letter from the 27th of Tammuz, and I mentioned it at the holy resting place of my father-in-law, the Rebbe, of blessed memory, regarding the matters you wrote about. May it be G‑d's will that you will share good news in these matters, and in visibly apparent and revealed good.

An additional merit in the month of Av for Chassidim comes through redemption. As is known from my father-in-law, the Rebbe's precise wording in his famous Iggeres HaKodesh, section 22 (134b), that in both cases he wrote the title 'father', but was careful that when it is about loving him and giving him rebuke, he did not write 'and Chasid', whereas when advocating as an intercessor so that it should be specifically in revealed and apparent good, he adds this title as well.

Enclosed is a booklet on the continuation of the imprisonment which was published for the days of redemption—12th and 13th Tammuz—our redemption and the liberation of our souls. Certainly you will also share its content with many others, and the merit of the many depends on you.

Summary

The Rebbe teaches that advocacy for another brings added merit and blessing. When one intercedes on behalf of another with sincerity, it draws down revealed good and elevates both parties spiritually. Sharing words of redemption multiplies this merit among many.
