In response to your letter from the 18th of Adar, in which you inform me that your daughter Mrs. Chana gave birth to a daughter who was named Rivkah.

I hereby express my blessing: Mazal Tov! May you raise her together with her husband for Torah, chuppah, and good deeds with peace of mind and body.

It is known from my revered teacher the Rebbe (the Rashab), of blessed memory, that our custom is to say even at the birth of a daughter: "for Torah, chuppah, and good deeds," based on our Sages (Berachos 17a): "With what do women merit? By bringing their children to learn Torah... by encouraging their husbands... and by guarding..."

I read with pleasure in your letter about the fixed times for Torah study established in your synagogue in general, including some classes in Chassidus. It is somewhat surprising that you do not mention any classes specifically in Chassidus or at least Tanya during the week. As is known from our Sages that three days should not pass without Torah study, this conduct should apply at least also to learning Chassidus. Perhaps this omission was only an oversight and you do learn Chassidus even on weekdays.

Even though you do not mention anything about this matter, I am sure that from time to time you also hold farbrengens in the synagogue. Certainly such gatherings are held every Shabbos Mevorchim as instituted by my revered father-in-law the Rebbe zatzal.

You are certainly correct in your request regarding sending out talks from Shabbos Mevorchim and similar occasions. But what can I do? I am overloaded with work; even more so with distractions that steal my time etc., etc., yet afterwards I try as much as possible. Enclosed is the maamar from Yud Shevat as well as the talk for Chanukah which I recently edited in Lashon HaKodesh.

Also enclosed is a copy of a general letter regarding the upcoming Pesach holiday; it is worthwhile to publish it appropriately since it is a general matter relevant not only to Chassidim or Anash but to everyone.
