בעתו קבלתי מכתבו, וזה עתה נתקבל מכתבו מד' אייר, וחבל אשר כנראה ממכתבו נפלה רוחו, ובודאי הוא מעצת היצר, כי כבר הורגלו כל עם ישראל בעליות וירידות במשך דברי הימים שלהם, ובפרט היראים בישראל, ובפרטי פרטיות עדת החסידים, אשר מזמן לזמן היו להם כמה מכשולים והעלמות והסתרים. בכל זה הנה סוף כל סוף דידן נצח. וכדברי כ"ק רבנו הזקן, אז ער האט אויסגעפועלט דורך זיינע מסירות נפש אז חסידים זאלן מצליח זיין.
ויוסיף אומץ להיות כלי הראוי וצנור המתאים למילוי שליחות כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע, שהיא להפיץ אור התורה והמאור שבתורה זוהי תורת החסידות במקומו ומדינתו עתה, ואז בטח יהי' הכל בהצלחה, ובהצלחה מופלגה. וכמו שכתבתי זה מכבר, שזה יהי' ג"כ הצנור לחיים מאושרים לו ולזוגתו שתי' בגשמיות וברוחניות ובדור ישרים יבורך.

Shalom u'Vrachah!
I received your letter in due time, and just now your letter from the 4th of Iyar has also arrived. It is unfortunate that from your letter it appears your spirits have fallen, which is certainly the advice of the yetzer (evil inclination), for all of Israel has become accustomed to ups and downs throughout their history—especially those who are G‑d-fearing among Israel, and in particular the community of chassidim—who from time to time have faced many obstacles and concealments. Despite all this, in the end, our side prevails. As the Alter Rebbe said: he accomplished through his self-sacrifice that chassidim should succeed.
May you strengthen yourself further to be a fitting vessel and proper channel for fulfilling the shlichus (mission) of my revered father-in-law, the Rebbe zatzal—namely, to spread the light of Torah and especially the inner light within Torah: Toras HaChassidus—in your place and country now. Then surely everything will be successful—and with outstanding success.
As I wrote some time ago, this will also serve as a channel for a happy life for you and your wife—both materially and spiritually—and "a generation of the upright shall be blessed." Awaiting good news,
