Shalom u'Vrachah!
According to his age—it is advisable that he begin to take an interest in shidduchim.
Regarding eating and diet—it does not matter so much what one eats (as long as it is kosher as required), but rather the intention behind eating: whether it is to fulfill a desire or simply to satisfy hunger, or in order to be healthy and thereby accomplish more, etc. See also Shulchan Aruch Orach Chaim Siman Reish Lamed Alef.
Normal life for a Jew—are only if they are according to Torah and mitzvot (Shulchan Aruch). If one diminishes or changes this—it is like a fish that jumps from the sea or river onto dry land—even during the moments it lives there, it is just flailing and convulsing, not living a normal life.
I will mention at the Tziyun.
Summary
The Rebbe teaches that true fulfillment for a Jew comes from living according to Torah and mitzvot. Both in seeking a shidduch and in daily habits like eating, intention and adherence to Torah are what bring genuine well-being.
