אשר מסר נפשו לטובת בנ"י בכלל, ובפרט לטובת אחבנ"י שי' הנמצאים במדינה ההיא. וידוע מאמר חכמינו ז"ל בנוגע לרועה ישראל נאמן ראשון – מה להלן עומד ומשמש אף כאן עומד ומשמש (סוטה יג, סע"ב), והמדובר שם בטובתם של ישראל כההמשך בסוגיא ובתוס' שם. והרי כל חכם ורועה ישראל אמיתי בדורו נקרא משה – רש"י שבת (קא, ב) –

ויהי רצון שכשם שזכה כת"ר והתחיל בבשורה טובה ע"ד הגשת הבקשה וקבלתה,
והורונו
חכז"ל המתחיל במצוה אומרים לו גמור, כן יברך על המוגמר, ומתוך שמחה וטוב לבב ובאופן טוב גם יתראה עם אחיו וב"ב שי'.

I hereby acknowledge receipt of your letter from the end of Tammuz, and thank you for the good news. I will mention your brother and B B sheyichyeh among many of our brethren who are in the same situation and need the same blessing at the resting place of my father-in-law, the Rebbe zatzal nishmaso Eden (may his merit protect us), who gave his life for the benefit of our people in general and especially for our brethren sheyichyu who are in that country.
It is well known what our Sages say regarding a faithful shepherd of Israel—the first one: "Just as there he stands and serves, so too here he stands and serves" (Sotah 13b), and that discussion there concerns the welfare of Israel as continued in the sugya and Tosafot there. And every wise man and true shepherd of Israel in his generation is called Moshe—see Rashi on Shabbos (101b)—and perhaps this is significant.
May it be G‑d's will that just as you merited to begin with good news up to submitting your request and its acceptance—and our Sages taught that one who begins a mitzvah is told to complete it—so too may you bless over its completion, with joy and gladness of heart, and in a good manner also meet with your brother B B sheyichyeh.
