Shalom u'Vrachah!

I hereby acknowledge receipt of your letter (undated), in which you write about your state of mind, etc.

It is truly astonishing that a Jew would be in such a state of mind, for it is forbidden for a person in general—and especially for a Jew—to despair. As is explained and emphasized in our Torah, the Torah of Life—Torah meaning instruction, guidance for daily life. It is also understood that since every Jew has a soul that is literally a part of G‑d above, there is no place for despair; rather, one must maintain an attachment and an open channel with Hashem, the Source of life and blessing.

This connection is achieved by conducting one's daily life according to Hashem's instructions in His Torah—beginning with putting on tefillin every weekday, eating only kosher food, and so on.

If you connect with our office in Paris, they will gladly provide you with all necessary information.

May it be G‑d's will that you share good news—especially as we have entered a new year: a good and sweet year both materially and spiritually.

With blessing,
In the name of the Admor Shlita
Secretary

In our secretariat we do not write in French; however, from your side you may continue writing in French if you wish—just let us know whether to reply to you in Lashon HaKodesh (Hebrew), Yiddish (or English).

Summary

The Rebbe teaches that despair has no place in Jewish life because each Jew possesses a Divine soul. By following Torah guidance and maintaining mitzvah observance daily, one strengthens their connection to Hashem and receives blessings both physically and spiritually.
