מאשר הנני קבלת מכתבו.
ובבואינו זה עתה משבת בראשית, וע"פ
מאמר רבנו הזקן אשר הארת שבת בראשית מאירה בכל שבתות השנה; ובתורתו בשם הבעש"ט שקיבל ממורו הבעל ח"י (הוא אחי' השילוני) אשר כל ימות השנה מקבלים משבת בראשית.
יהי רצון שבתחלת ופתח פרשת בראשית של התורה ושל העולם - יהי אור, גם בתחלת עניני העולם קטן זה האדם, הן עניניו שהם בבחי' שמים וצבאי' (ענינים רוחנים), הן עניניו שהם בבחי' ארץ וצבאי' (ענינים גשמיים).
אור לכל פירושיו, אור נראה ונגלה.
והדרך להמשיך את כל האמור עתה ולמטה מעשרה טפחים ובגלוי, מובן מתורת הבעש"ט, אשר אור האמור (אור שנברא ביום ראשון) גנזו בתורה.
והרי תכונת אור זה שאדם צופה ומביט בו - מסוף העולם ועד סופו,
הנהגה ע"פ הוראות תורתנו תורת חיים - מסוף העולם (קטן - האדם) ועד סופו, בכל דרכיך דעהו.

I acknowledge receipt of your letter. As we have just come from Shabbos Bereishis, and based on the teaching of our Rebbe the Alter Rebbe that the radiance of Shabbos Bereishis shines throughout all the Shabbosos of the year; and in his Torah in the name of the Baal Shem Tov, who received it from his teacher the Baal Chai (that is, Achiyah HaShiloni), that all days of the year receive from Shabbos Bereishis.
May it be G‑d's will that at the beginning and opening of Parshas Bereishis — both for Torah and for the world — "Yehi Or" ("Let there be light") should also be at the beginning of matters in this small world called man: whether his matters are in the category of heavens and their hosts (spiritual matters), or in the category of earth and its hosts (material matters). Light in all its interpretations, visible and revealed light.
The way to draw down all that was mentioned above, even below ten handbreadths and openly, is understood from the teachings of the Baal Shem Tov: that this light (the light created on the first day) was hidden in the Torah. The nature of this light is that a person can see from one end of the world to the other. Conducting oneself according to the instructions of our Torah, a Torah of life — from one end of the world (the small world — man) to its other end, "B'chol derachecha da'eihu" ("In all your ways know Him").
