בעונג קראתי מכתבו מח"י אלול השי"ת הכולל בתוכו זכרונות מחיי צדיקים קדושים וטהורים, וכידוע במעלת ספר בראשית הקודם לספר שמות וכו' כי הוא מלא סיפורי צדיקים, ועל שמו נקרא ספר הישר (ומדובר בזה בקובץ מכתבים ג' של כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר הכ"מ ע' יו"ד ואילך).
כנראה במכתבו כבר נמצא במחנו הט' ולכן הנני שולח מכתב זה ישר לעירו.
מוסגר פה הקונטרס לראש השנה הבע"ל עם העתקת מכתבים כלליים השייכים אליו, אשר בידעי יחס כת"ר תקותי שימצא ענין בהם, והי' זה שכרי.

With pleasure I read your letter from Chai Elul, may Hashem help, which includes memories from the lives of holy and pure tzaddikim. As is known regarding the virtue of Sefer Bereishis which precedes Sefer Shemos, etc., for it is filled with stories of tzaddikim and is therefore called Sefer HaYashar (and this is discussed in Kuntres Michtavim III by my father-in-law the Rebbe hk"m p. Yud and onward).
It seems from your letter that you are already at our camp in the ninth [district], so I am sending this letter directly to your city.
Enclosed here is the kuntres for the upcoming Rosh Hashanah with copies of general letters related to it. Knowing your relationship to Torah and mitzvos, I hope you will find interest in them—and that will be my reward.
I sign with blessings for a good inscription and sealing for a good and sweet year materially and spiritually for you and your entire household sheyichyu and all those influenced by you in Torah, mitzvos, and derech chassidus—blessing you and being blessed myself, hoping for good.
