In response to your letter from the 25th of Menachem Av, in which you ask whether a yeshiva student in Eretz HaKodesh should be obligated to enlist there in the army.
It is astonishing that this is even a question for you, to the point that you need to ask from afar. It is well known and publicized—the clear halachic ruling of the rabbis of Israel, which is obviously based on our Torah, the Torah of Life—that yeshiva students are not to be drafted and should not serve in the army. Their diligent and steadfast study of our holy Torah protects and saves our holy land and those who dwell upon it.
