Shalom u'Vrachah!

I do not know the custom in Jerusalem, may it be rebuilt and established, among various circles regarding erecting a tombstone. However, it is known that several later halachic authorities conclude that one should not delay it, and certainly not wait until a full year or similar periods.

And from one matter to another related topic: It is remarkable how our Sages instruct that immediately after a Jew's passing, it is specifically the relatives who must ensure that "Yitgadal v'Yitkadash Shemei Rabba" (May His great Name be exalted and sanctified) is said in connection with the passing—not only in Heaven above but also "b'alma di'bra kirtzey" (in the world He created according to His will). The intent of this recitation is certainly both for the benefit of the departed and for those living—merit for the soul and comfort for its mourners. And if you will say, through explanation and answer to the natural question: How can it be that the world and its conduct are according to His will? It is simply because human intellect is extremely limited and cannot grasp the Supreme Will—"v'ha'cheker Eloka timtza" (can you find out G‑d's essence?).

Blessings for your personal matters as well as general matters—by which I mean spreading traditional Judaism. You should now engage in this with double effort. Such an obligation is also a merit—a merit also for the soul which is eternal—and may you have only good news in all things.
