זה זמן רב ביותר שלא נתקבל ממנו מכתב וידיעות, ויהי רצון שיהי' זה סימן שהכל בסדר, בענינים הכללים ובענינים הפרטים.
בטח מסר פ"ש כללית... וכן אודות מה שדברתי עמו בהנוגע למחנם הט' בפרט ולמדינות... בכלל, שלפלא וגם מצער - על שאין נעשה כמעט מאומה בהנוגע להפצת המעינות, והרי מובן שלכל לראש עליו ודכוותי' הדבר מוטל, שהרי זכה ולמד כמה זמן בישיבת תומכי תמימים מיסודם ובהנהלתם של רבותינו נשיאינו זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע, אשר פעולות ודברי צדיקים קיימים לעד, וגם גזע צור מחצבתו מסייעתו, ובודאי לדכוותי' האריכות בדבר אך למותר. פשיטא שאין כוונתי להטפת מוסר, כי אם לעורר ולעודד להפצה ולפעולות כגון האמור בכל המרץ הדרוש, וביחוד גדלה התמי' על העדר הנ"ל - בתקופה זו שכל העולם כולו ובחוגים הכי שונים דברו והפיצו עכ"פ נקודות מהמעינות בקשר עם שנת המאתים להסתלקות הילולא של הבעש"ט, ובכ"מ ממשיכים גם עתה בזה [ולדוגמא כאן בשבועות הבאים, ונעשה זה ע"י חוגים בלתי דתיים], והרי מזה כ"ש וק"ו בהנוגע לאלו ששייך להם הענין בפנימיות.
ויהי רצון שאתבשר טוב בכל האמור. וכנוסח דמגילות פורים [דמגילה נקראת* מתחיל מיום המחרת], ליהודים היתה אורה זו תורה, והרי ענין האורה הוא להאיר במקום שקודם לזה חסר הי'. ובפרט ע"פ תורת רבנו הזקן, דאורה לשון מפעיל, עיין שערי אורה בזה (בסוף הספר).

It has been a very long time since I have received a letter or any news from you. May it be G‑d's will that this is a sign that all is well, both in general matters and in personal matters. Surely you have sent regards to everyone... Also regarding what I spoke with you about concerning Camp Nine specifically and about the states in general—it is surprising and also saddening that almost nothing has been done regarding spreading the wellsprings. It is understood that first and foremost this responsibility falls upon you and your peers, since you merited to study for some time in Yeshivas Tomchei Temimim, founded and directed by our Rebbeim, may their merit protect us, whose actions and words endure forever. Furthermore, your lineage assists you as well, and surely for you and your peers there is no need for lengthy discussion on this matter.
It is obvious that my intention is not to rebuke but rather to awaken and encourage spreading and activities such as these with all the necessary energy. It is especially surprising that this lack exists at a time when the entire world—even among very different circles—spoke about and spread at least some points of the wellsprings in connection with the bicentennial of the Baal Shem Tov's passing (yahrzeit), and in many places they continue even now [for example here in the coming weeks—and this is being done by non-religious groups], so how much more so does this apply to those who are truly connected to this matter.
May it be G‑d's will that I hear good news regarding all of the above. As it says in Megillas Purim [the Megillah is read* beginning from the next day], "LaYehudim hayta orah" (For the Jews there was light)—this light refers to Torah, which means illuminating a place that previously lacked it. Especially according to the teachings of Rabbeinu HaZaken (the Alter Rebbe), who explains that "orah" (light) is an active term—see Shaarei Orah at the end of the book.
