Source of Blessing, Prayer, and Guidance in Daily Life and Education

The Rebbe writes that blessings and success come from the Creator, not people. One must pray, act according to Torah, and guide others accordingly. This is especially vital in education, as small influences on youth have lasting effects.

Shalom u'Vrachah!

In response to your letter from 2/22: When you also write the mother's name for each person you mention (as is customary when praying), they will be mentioned at the holy resting place of my revered father-in-law, the Rebbe zatzukal-laha nabgam zya.

Regarding the style of your writing, I must point out a main comment: The source of blessings and success is the Creator and Ruler of the world. "Do not trust in nobles nor in a human who cannot bring salvation," and a person can only arouse mercy and strive in prayer. Along with this, one should show the way to those needing blessing. In the words of our Sages: "The prayer of the sick person and one in need of blessing is especially effective." The way of our Torah—Torat Chayim (a living Torah)—is guidance for life on how to behave to receive blessing from the Giver of Torah, Who is the Creator and Ruler of the world.

It is clear and obvious that they must conduct their daily lives according to the guidance of our Torah, Torat Chayim, fulfilling its mitzvot about which it is said "and you shall live by them." The more one adds in this—the more blessing from Hashem Yitbarach increases for what a person and his household need.

If in previous times there was still room for debate or demands for proof about this, there is no need (unfortunately) nowadays—when every Jew walking on earth—may Hashem lengthen each one's days with goodness and pleasantness—is like a brand saved from fire, from decrees of destruction so terrible that naturally there should have been no escape G‑d forbid. Especially those living in Eretz HaKodesh Tuvah; as is known regarding the situation during General Rommel's invasion when he stood in Alexandria with all his army—and that's enough said.

It is understood that my intention is not to preach morals but rather regarding the future—as above—about conduct in daily life. It is clearly seen that when one firmly decides to behave this way, then difficulties are actually fewer than anticipated—provided one does not become discouraged by concealments or usual difficulties at the start of any matter or conduct; as it is said: "All beginnings are difficult."

If all this applies to everyone individually, how much more so regarding educating sons and daughters—as is well known: youth are like seeds or saplings; any small improvement (and conversely any small deficiency or scratch) can have major effects when they grow into fruit-bearing trees—and that's enough said.

Blessings for good news in all mentioned above.

P.S. In my secretariat we do not write Ashkenazic German (Yiddish), so this letter comes in Lashon HaKodesh (Hebrew), but you may write also in Ashkenazic since I read that language.

Summary

The Rebbe teaches that true blessing comes only from Hashem; our role is to pray earnestly and live according to Torah's guidance. This approach brings real success—especially impactful when educating children where every influence shapes their future.
