In response to your letter from July 10th: In general, it is a good thing to hire an honest salesman so you can utilize your talents in this area in a positive way—good for the business and also good for you. Especially since what is good for the business is also a positive matter according to Torah, because the income should be used properly in accordance with the instruction of our teacher the Baal Shem Tov of blessed memory on the verse "Ki Tireh Chamor... Azov Ta'azov Imo" ("When you see a donkey... you shall surely help along with him"), to serve Hashem with one's body and its matters—not only with that portion which is directly given to charity (as expressed by Rabbeinu HaZaken in Tanya chapter 34: "He elevates with him all four domains"), but also directly within the four domains themselves according to the ruling of Torah: "Bechol Derachecha Da'eihu" ("In all your ways know Him") as explained at length in Tur Shulchan Aruch Orach Chaim section 231. (See also Tanya there: "And besides this, at the time of Torah study and prayer, everything rises to Hashem...").

Summary
Business activities can be elevated when approached honestly and with intention to use their results for Torah purposes. The Rebbe teaches that not only charity but all aspects of earning and daily life can serve G‑d when guided by Torah values.
