Shalom u'Vrachah!
In response to your letter from the eve of Monday. It is well known among the Jewish people that regarding the time and place of a wedding, both sets of in-laws should discuss and agree together. May it be G‑d's will that whatever you decide will be at a good and auspicious time and in a good and successful place. After you reach a decision about this, you should then also decide regarding the necessary papers and certificates (of course, in consultation with attorneys who handle such matters).
It is understood and obvious that the suggestion to at least complete the first part of Yoreh De'ah and to receive semicha is very correct indeed. This does not affect your material livelihood. Likewise, it is also clear that one should not postpone this study until after the wedding; rather, you should begin as soon as possible, and after some time you can decide when to finish. There is strong hope (based on the halachic ruling regarding a shochet who must anyway be proficient) that you are already knowledgeable in the laws of shechitah etc., which are an important part of Shulchan Aruch Yoreh De'ah part one.
I hope you have set times for studying Chassidus every single day, with extra study on Shabbos Kodesh which is sanctified to Hashem—as explained as necessary in many places.
Regarding housing—it is understood that you should prepare temporary housing now, and together later choose a permanent home.
Blessings for good news in all the above.
