Shalom u'Vrachah!
In response to your letter from Motzaei Shabbat Parshat Lech Lecha regarding your attempt to answer the matters I wrote in my previous letter: you yourself prefaced your words by saying it is difficult to respond to these matters in halachah. Regarding what you wrote that "they are given from their own," it is clear that this has no basis in Torah—neither in halachah nor in practice—unless one wishes to ignore the reality and actions being discussed, which have nothing at all to do with "their own." There is no need to elaborate on something so distressing and alarming.
You wrote that practically it was also a novelty for you regarding the prohibition of dak. This novelty is not from me; it is explicitly stated in Shulchan Aruch as practical halachah—so what did I innovate here? The claim that there has already been a chazakah for several years—I heard this claim also regarding travel on Israeli ships—and I did not find support for it among the poskim; rather, the opposite...
The "justification" for the entire situation seems to be what is stated in a maamar of Chassidus (for now I have not clarified who said or wrote it, though apparently it contains matters from Admor HaZaken), Devarim HaMashal Ve'et HaElef U'Tesha Me'ot V'Chamesh HaMashal—that our generations are in a state of very deep fainting [and therefore they whispered the name into the ears of Bnei Yisrael—the coming of the Baal Shem Tov whose name is Yisrael]. Fainting even has a positive side: if there were any awareness, it would be impossible to bear the pain, etc. And this suffices.
May it be G‑d's will that since we are approaching the month of Kislev—which is the month of miracles and redemption—and specifically with oil that does not mix with other liquids and increases and adds light ever more, rejecting even the matter of Pri HaChag [i.e., nations of the world as protected in the Beit HaMikdash—not even that], then finally we will merit fulfillment of the prophecy: "They shall be yours alone and no strangers with you," and may it be speedily in our days—even before this coming month begins.
Blessings for good news,
M. Schneersohn
Regarding what you wrote about Iggeret HaKodesh at its conclusion: "And to cleave to her," it should say "to cleave to Him." Seemingly: (a) The continuation "dilah" (referring to Sukkas David [or dilih—David]) does not fit well. (b) Above this it discusses service of Hashem or Sukkas David—not cleaving to Him. In earlier editions of Iggeret HaKodesh it appears as we have before us; only there is no alternative version. It seems "to her" refers to Sukkas David—Malchus, Shechinah—as our sages say in many places: "to cleave to Shechinah." Note (regarding this whole matter) Likkutei Torah Chukas 63d; see also there 20b.
