With blessing and peace! In response to your letter dated 5/7, in which you ask what you should do so that your fortune will succeed and you will be happy in life.

The Creator of the world and its Ruler has already answered this question, as it is written in His Torah: “If you walk in My statutes and keep My commandments and do them, then I will give…”—and all the blessings stated in the portion (Vayikra 26:3 onward). And further it is written: “And it shall be, if you diligently listen to the voice of Hashem your G-d… all these blessings will come upon you…” (Devarim 28:1–2). The commandments mentioned are explicitly detailed in Shulchan Aruch and many other places.

In your question about when you will marry, etc., it is not customary to seek knowledge of the future, for it is said: “You shall be wholehearted with Hashem your G-d” (Devarim 18:13). Rather, a Jewish man and woman must be strong in their trust in the Creator, may He be blessed and exalted, that He will grant them a happy life—since on their part they conduct themselves according to His will, His Torah, and His mitzvos.

I hope that you are studying and behaving appropriately for a Jewish daughter—each of whom is called a daughter of Sarah, Rivkah, Rachel, and Leah—and that you also influence your friends similarly. May Hashem grant you success to share good news regarding all of the above.

Summary

The Rebbe teaches that happiness and success are achieved by observing Torah and mitzvos with trust in Hashem. Instead of seeking predictions about the future, one should strengthen faith and positive conduct, influencing others as well.
