In response to your letter from the 7th of Menachem Av, in which you write about your physical health and mainly regarding the condition of your eye: I am not pleased that you write that it has been about two years since you began to feel something in your eye and nevertheless did not go to doctors. However, we do not cry over the past. Now, in my opinion, you should consult with two expert doctors who specialize specifically in this field, and try with them to do all possible treatments before they suggest removing the eye, G‑d forbid. Be strong in your trust in Hashem that this will not be necessary. Surely it is unnecessary to remind you about being careful with Kiddush and Havdalah—as our Sages say, this affects a person's eyesight. Also strive to strengthen yourself in studying the inner dimension of Torah according to your status and situation. I await good news from you.

I will read your pidyon nefesh at the resting place of my revered father-in-law, the Rebbe zatzal (may the memory of a righteous and holy person be a blessing for life in the World to Come), and surely he will arouse mercy for you.
