Shalom u'Vrachah!
...How startled I was when I received your telegram stating that the teachers intended to strike and not teach, and the consequences that could result from this are clear. Without entering into the claims and demands of the other side, I telegraphed my impression of such an idea, and thank G‑d I received a telegram from the teachers that they had resumed teaching. When I asked Haraha"ch vavac"h iy"a nu"n involved with tzt"z etc. Moreinu HaRav ... here, as well as from the teachers' letter, it appears they have claims and demands. As is usual in such matters, each side is somewhat right and somewhat at fault; what needs clarification is which part is greater—where they are right or where they are at fault. However, what I cannot justify at present is the teachers' claim that long ago they notified about their demands and even requested a meeting to discuss them, yet not only were their demands unanswered but even a meeting was not held nor were they engaged in discussion. I do not understand this approach at all since the consequences are quite clear and what such a situation can lead to over time could become irreparable...
The approach of "what concern is this of ours," firstly, it is not a minor issue; secondly, we are already sworn to this from Mount Sinai onward. And after receiving their appointment from my revered father-in-law the Rebbe zatzal as members of the yeshiva administration... until someone capable relieves them of this duty, it remains entirely their responsibility—whether or not they participate in meetings—even if one officially announces in advance his unwillingness to participate.
d) The conclusion from all the above: although every Chabad chassid must assist them in their work managing this yeshiva, nevertheless the responsibility rests specifically on their shoulders...
May Hashem grant them success and help me so that at least from now on I will not need to write letters of rebuke but only regarding thanks and wishes for success.
Awaiting good news and thanks in advance for your prompt response on this matter.
Summary
The Rebbe teaches that while both sides in a dispute may have valid points, true leadership requires taking responsibility for resolution. Open communication prevents lasting harm; may our efforts focus on gratitude and positive outcomes.
