Shalom u'Vrachah!

I received the checks for "Machne Israel" that you left before your return, fulfilling and maintaining your good custom. Besides the act of tzedakah in participating in the broad and all-encompassing work of "Machne Israel," where whoever increases is praiseworthy, and aside from the virtue of not diminishing the amount of tzedakah one was accustomed to giving previously—whose greatness needs no further emphasis—I especially value your current good deed knowing the challenge you surely faced in doing so, considering how you see your situation at this moment.

The harder the challenge, the stronger must be one's measure of iskafya (self-restraint to overcome challenges). Beyond the great mitzvah involved here, the act of iskafya works to refine and elevate one's "self." The trait of iskafya is very precious to the Aibershter (the Almighty) and opens extraordinary channels to draw down blessing and success both materially and spiritually.

With blessing that you should soon be able to report that you are making good business.

Summary

Continuing acts of tzedakah despite personal difficulty is especially valued by G‑d. Overcoming challenges through self-restraint refines a person and draws unique blessings for both material and spiritual success.
